Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name, a county, or a date of birth entered into one of the search boxes on this site goes directly to the outside company that provides that search. The provider processes the query and returns whatever it finds. Nothing typed into those boxes is stored or logged here.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to this site is kept so that a reply can be written. Messages stay with the people who operate the site and are not passed to anyone outside the organization unless a legal obligation requires it.
Data We Gather Automatically
Each page view generates technical details that our servers record in the ordinary course of running a website. The list below covers what is typically captured.
- The address of the site that referred you here, when there is one
- The browser you are using and its version number
- Your device type and operating system
- The IP address assigned to your device
- Which pages you opened and how long each stayed on screen
- The date and time recorded for every page view
Cookies and Analytics
This site uses cookies, the small files a site stores on your device. They show which pages draw visitors and where readers tend to stop, and analytics services turn that information into aggregate traffic figures. Browser settings allow cookies to be blocked at any time. Some parts of the site may behave differently once they are.
What We Do With This Data
- Passing a search request to the partner service that handles it
- Tracking down technical problems and fixing them
- Keeping pages loading quickly and reliably
- Learning which pages readers find useful and which need work
- Serving advertising that may reflect your interests
No Warrant Data on File
No warrant database is hosted, compiled, maintained, or sold on this site, and neither are files about individual people. What is published here is general guidance about where Hampshire County warrant records sit: the courts that issue process, the Hampshire County Sheriff's Office that serves and holds custody records, and the Massachusetts Warrant Management System that law enforcement and the Registry of Motor Vehicles use. This site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and nothing gathered about visitors is assembled into a consumer report about anyone.
Third-Party Search Partners
The search boxes on this site belong to outside companies. Whatever is entered into one of those tools is handled under the partner's privacy policy rather than this one. Those companies decide how long they keep data and who they share it with, and none of that is under our control. Read the partner's policy before submitting a search.
Links to Other Websites
Pages here link out to the Massachusetts Trial Court clerk and docket pages, the MassCourts portal, the Hampshire County Sheriff's Office, the Secretary of the Commonwealth's public records guidance, legal aid organizations, and outside search services. Following one of those links leaves this site, and whatever privacy policy governs the destination takes over at that point. Read it before sharing personal details.
Some advertising partners track activity across websites in order to show targeted ads. That tracking runs on their systems rather than ours.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold here. A limited amount of information may reach:
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance
- Search partners that process the queries you run
- Ad networks that place advertising on these pages
- A government body or law enforcement office when a valid legal order requires disclosure
How We Protect Your Data
Ordinary security practices are used to guard the information this site collects. Nothing connected to the internet is ever fully safe, though. Reasonable steps are taken to protect your information, and no promise can be made that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
This site is written for adults. Personal information from anyone under 18 is not knowingly collected. If a minor is believed to have shared data here, say so in a message and it will be deleted promptly.
Your Data Rights
Massachusetts has a framework for records held by public agencies, and the state's Public Records Law, M.G.L. c. 66, Section 10, spells out how those records are requested, disclosed, redacted, and appealed. That law governs government records rather than a private reference site like this one, but reasonable requests about personal information are still honored. A reader can ask us to do any of the following:
- Correct information that turns out to be wrong
- Provide a copy of what is held on file about you
- Opt out of certain kinds of data processing
- Delete your data
Updates to This Policy
This privacy policy may be revised from time to time. A revised version goes up on this page with a new effective date whenever that happens. Check back to see how information is being handled.
